The Houston Rockets definitely made some noise in the off season, bringing in big name talents Jeremy Lin and James Harden. Rockets fans were excited for the type of success they haven’t really seen since Tracy McGrady fell off the map. But now that the season is over halfway complete, is it possible to call the Jeremy Lin – James Harden combination a success?
Among Giants
First off, the Rockets certainly face an uphill battle in their division. Facing off against the Spurs and Mavericks each year is no easy task. True, the Mavericks have taken a big step back this year, but no one saw Memphis’ success coming, that’s for sure. Having said that, the Rockets certainly have the talent to make some noise, if they can just find a way to perform well together.
Great Eight
Luckily, it doesn’t take much to make the NBA playoffs. Houston is in contention for the last few spots in the West, but with LA, Portland, and Dallas nipping at their heels, they can’t slow down. They also have a lot of work in front of them if they want to overtake any of the teams ahead of them besides Utah. January was not kind to Houston, so hopefully February will be a different story.
Every team takes at least a little while to gel, so Houston fans should take heart in the recent success of the Rockets. This year may lead to nothing but sneaking into the playoffs and ruining another team’s dreams, but the years to come should just keep getting better.
